The unspoilt Ile de Ré is just opposite the exciting town of La Rochelle. The island counts 10 villages recognisable by their traditional white houses with colourful shutters in little alleys with flowery edges. The Ile de Ré symbolizes also endless sandy beaches and dunes, forests and lively harbours where you will meet sailors and fishermen and taste the best home made ice-cream ever! We particularly recommend La Martinière on St Martin harbour. This well decorated and comfortable house is situated in a quiet lane with no through traffic, only 800 metres from the centre of Le Bois Plage village. In summer the market takes place every day and will allow you to buy best quality fresh products daily. Otherwise the village has plenty of shops and several delightful restaurants and cafés. In the village you can hire bicycles and ride with your children on the 70km of flat cycling lane through the forest, vineyards and narrow streets around the whole island. Or you can just cycle to the beach which is only 2km away with the possibility to do windsurfing, boat and many other beach activities. Nearby (around 1.5km) is also a tennis court. Ladies, we also recommend you to take some time for yourself and try one of the 3 thalassotherapy centre that are on the island for a spa, massage or beauty treatments while your husband can play golf at Les Portes en Ré some 20km from the house.
You enter the house directly into the living area with fully equipped kitchen on one side with dishwasher, adjacent to which is the utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Open plan to the kitchen is a large, attractive the sitting/dining area that has a L shape with French windows onto the terrace and swimming pool. This room has table and chairs for 6, two leather sofas facing the TV with DVD player. In the corner is some cosy seating around the fireplace. Near the entrance door is also a separate wc. From the sitting room, a corridor leads to a double bedroom with en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom, a separate wc, another shower room and a third bedroom with one bed with extra pull-out bed underneath suitable for children. Outside, the swimming pool, (9m x 4.5m) sits in the middle of the lovely terrace with table and chairs, recliners, plancha for grilling food, plus a small covered area with built-in seating and table. The pool is covered by a retractable dome. The house has broadband internet access with wifi and air-conditioning.
