This well restored and comfortable windmill is situated in open countryside on a plateau roughly equidistant from the two principal towns of the Lot and Garonne. Villeneuve is 22 km away, and Agen, the capital of the department, is 19 km to the south. Both are riverside towns, and provide an attractive view of the bustle of French provincial life in all its colour and gaiety. There are also many enchanting hilltop villages to be explored near to the windmill. These include Laroque Timbault, 4 km away where there is a good restaurant; the Roquentin, with shops for everyday needs, a market on Sunday and two bars; Penne d’Agenais; Tournon d’Agenais; Beauville, and Puymirol where there is an excellent restaurant with two Michelin rosettes, les Loges de l’Aubergade. There are two golf courses, one at Castelnau and another at Bonencontre which are within one hour drive of the property.
The windmill has been restored with good taste and to a high standard by its current owners. You enter directly through the front door into the ground floor kitchen/living room where there is a wood burning stove, a TV plus DVD, and a round table to seat four set out on pink-beige terracotta floor tiles in front of a fitted kitchen; this has an oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, oak cupboards and tiled work surface fitted into the circular beige stone walls. A staircase of stone steps follows the curve of the walls up to the first floor where there is a shower room with blue and white tiles and a separate WC. There is a double bedroom on the second floor with a TV and DVD. On the third floor is a sitting room (unheated) where the drive shaft is located and which has a lightweight sofa bed. The windmill has heating, a cd player, telephone and 2 bicycles.
This property is not suitable for children under 8 years old.
