Description
This is a charming stone property, decorated in traditional style with oak beams and comfortable furnishings. It is located in a little hamlet near Visnjan, which is about 10 minutes walk away and has grocery shops, bars, post office and two restaurants; ‘Al Ritrova’ serves good pizzas and pasta meals and ‘Borgonja’ serves good Istrian cuisine. Just 2 minutes drive away there is also a very good restaurant called ‘Stazion’ serving local specialities. Lovely countryside around the property includes vineyards and olive groves; if you drive from Visnjan to Vizinada (15 minutes) you will see some of the most picturesque Istrian areas, criss-crossed with vineyards. Many wine routes intersect this part of Istria – just take any of them to reach a local wine cellar and sample Teran or Malvasia – the most common Istrian wines.
Porec, which has 2 Blue Flag beaches, is just 12km away; it is a town famous for its cultural heritage and monuments with Romanesque, Gothic and Byzantine features. Euphrasian Basilica (Euphrasiana) in Porec is one of the most celebrated monuments of early Byzantine art in the Mediterranean. It was built in the 6th century, at the time of Bishop Euphrasy and the Emperor Justinian I. In 1997 UNESCO has included Porec’s Basilica in the world's cultural heritage. Apart from the famous basilica, Porec hides little jewels of secular architecture, which you will come across while strolling along the cobbled old town streets. In the evening, visit one of the restaurants located at the city front for a more sophisticated atmosphere, or choose between numerous restaurants, pizzerias and spaghetterias arranged around the main square where often music concerts and performances take place in the summer. Before retiring back to your villa, have a drink in one of the fancy bars overlooking the quays, or go to the historic Round tower which has an upstairs café with nice views of the old town and sea and has a laid back, jazzy atmosphere.
The property is on 3 levels. The front door on the ground floor opens into a living/dining room with sofas, fireplace and satellite TV plus dining table and chairs. Next to this is the kitchen - fully equipped with dishwasher, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and coffee machine. Doors from the kitchen lead to a utility room and shower room/wc. On the first floor is a landing off which are two bedrooms and a shower room/wc; one bedroom is single, one has twin beds – both beautifully decorated in traditional style. On the top floor the stairs have a child gate, and there is a double bedroom, a triple bedroom with air conditioning, sofa and satellite TV, plus a shower room/wc.
In front of the villa is a large enclosed garden with 8m x 4.5m swimming pool. Next to it is a covered area for outdoor eating with wooden table and benches, built in barbecue and a separate ‘summer kitchen’ with sink, cooker and washing machine.
