This very recently renovated apartment is part of an impressive mansion in Baigts de Bearn where the son of Louise, Comtesse de Stolberg-Goedern and Charles Stuart (the Young Pretender) used to live in the 19th Century. The property of 8 hectares of fields and woods is on top of the village hill and overlooks the countryside around. Ideally located, in the heart of the Bearn, close to the historical town of Orthez and its TGV station and to the thermal town of Salies de Bearn with its river snaking between its old houses. The property is only 45 minutes from Pau airport and one hour from Biarritz airport. Many typical sights are accessible from the property with one hour 's drive to the Pyrenees, the Atlantic coast and to the Spanish border with Bilbao being only 2 hours from the house.
There is a bakery/grocery only 500m from the house, supermarkets and more shops are 7 kms away.
You enter into the fitted kitchen with wooden cupboards, dishwasher, washing machine and table for 6 people. The kitchen is open to the spacious living room with comfortable seating, including a sofabed, and a satelitte TV and dvd player. The apartment is nicely decorated with paintings and sculptures made by the owner. Off this main room is a separate wc, and a spiral staircase which rises to the first floor. Upstairs are a bathroom/wc, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom with double plus extra single bed.
Outside is a huge garden strictly reserved to our French Affair clients. In front of the apartment is a small terrace with table and chairs. The swimming pool (which can be occasionally shared with the owners) is close to the clients garden and is 25m x 3.5m with a constant 2m depth. The apartment has central heating.
The property owner occupies the house occasionally and the caretaker lives in the old farm next door but does not have access to the pool and lives in separate house.
