Description

Positioned on the romantic secluded location right above the sea in the little Dalmatian village of Plat, this charming stone house is a perfect choice for couples or small families. A small stream, which hundreds of years ago powered a tiny olive mill, runs along one side of the property; just beneath you via some stone steps is the start of a long pebble beach – this is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. It is difficult to imagine a more idyllic setting with only the sound of a babbling stream and lapping waves on the shoreline to disturb you. To reach this perfect spot, you do need to park your car at the far end of the beach and walk 5 minutes across it to gain access to the property; it is therefore not suitable for the elderly or those with mobility problems. The village of Plat has only few hundred inhabitants; at the far end of the beach is the Hotel Plat with a restaurant, and a local shop; you can find further shops in the main centre of Plat about 3km away. From the Hotel Plat you can join one of their excursion boats that go regularly to Dubrovnik.   

The beautiful town of Cavtat is only 6km away from Plat and here you will find a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants with the terraces by the sea; we recommend the «Dalmacija» and «Leut» one of the best fish restaurants around with a wide choice of fresh fish as well as famous Croatian wines. Cavtat is an interesting historical centre as well as having a long sea promenade with many smart yachts moored alongside; here you can loiter and enjoy the lovely old buildings as well as the seaside bars and restaurants. 

The Unesco heritage town of Dubrovnik is just 14 km away from the house. Its unique medieval centre is a joy to visit; it is full of historic old squares like «Stradun», fabulous old city walls, and an excellent selection of restaurants such «Gills», «Nautika», «Proto» and «Lokanda». You can also jump on a ferry to the nearby Elafitski Islands (Lopud, Kolocep, Sipan) or make a day trip to the National Park on the Island of Mljet.

This lovely property is approached via the long pebble beach in Plat, only few minutes walking from the parking area in front of the Hotel Plat. The little stone house is several hundred years old but was recently renovated in simple style in keeping with its natural surroundings.   Outside is a terrace where you can eat or relax with a pergola for shade; this extends into a natural stone paved area with an outside shower, at the end of which a few meters away is the small stream running past. You enter on the ground floor into the living/dining room which has air-conditioning, a sofa that converts into a bed, a dining table and chairs for 6 plus a coffee table. Open-plan to this is the kitchen area with cooker, oven and fridge. Stairs lead up to two bedrooms each with two single beds that can convert to a double. On the same level is a shower room/wc with a washing machine.
