Description
Nearby Kringa is a pretty town with a rich history and cultural heritage. There is a small village shop and a cafe bar just five minutes' walk from Villa Carmen. In the neighbouring village of Danieli, there is an excellent restaurant serving a range of Istrian specialties. Both the coastal town of Porec and historic Pazin within easy reach of the villa.
Porec is considered to be one of the most beautiful Istrian towns. The historical centre, once encircled by walls and towers is today conserved in numerous remains. Take a stroll on the cobbled streets of the Old centre, enjoy beautiful gothic facades and visit Euphrasian basilica – the most valuable cultural monument in Porec, registered on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This early-Christian complex built in the 6th century is the only complete landmark in the world preserved from that period.
Every summer, there are variety of festivals and events taking place in the streets of Porec. One of the most interesting for tourists of all age is the Street Art festival when different theatrical, multimedial and acrobatic happenings are performed by individuals and groups from all over the world.
Unlike Porec on the coast, Pazin town is located in the central part of Istria. The old castle dominates this town and there are lovely hilltop towns around the town worth visiting, such as Pican or Gracisce. In Gracisce, a well known konoba Marino is the best place to taste local cuisine and excellent home made prosciutto and cheese.
Villa Pietra sits in well maintained grounds and offers holiday accommodation for up to six guests. The open plan kitchen/dining and sitting has a stunning stone built fireplace and access to a covered terrace. There are three bedrooms – one double en suite on the ground floor and two en suite double rooms upstairs.
Outside, there is a 10m swimming pool and large sunbathing area. The lawned garden offers welcome shade and includes swings and a see saw for children. There is a covered terrace with a large dining area and built in stone bbq, providing the ideal space for al fresco dining.
