Description

This property stands in a most impressive position on the edge of the National Park of Gerez on a hillside with panoramic views over Lake Canicada. The Park is a wonderful area of 140,000 acres with walking tracks, picturesque rivers, artificial lakes and charming old stone villages. On the lakes you can swim and hire canoes. The natural spa and spring waters in the small town of Caldas De Gerez are just 5km away, and for archaeological lovers, you can find a branch of the original Roman road which used to link Braga to Astorga (in Spain) 20km away.

There are plenty of local restaurants within easy driving distance; but in particular you should eat at Pousada de S Bento (2km) which also has fabulous views, and Restaurant Salvador at Vilar Da Veiga (3km). A small supermarket, chemist and cash machine are just 1km from the property.

At ground level is a spacious dining room which is open plan to the kitchen which has fitted cupboards, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer plus washing machine and small breakfast table. A door from the kitchen opens to an outdoor terrace with barbecue, plus table and chairs. The dining area links with the sitting room with two sofas and coffee table; both sitting and dining areas have doors which open onto a terrace which wraps around two sides of the house – there is plenty of outdoor seating and views over the garden, lake and hills.

An open tread staircase leads up to the first floor on which is a double bedroom with veranda and ensuite shower room/wc, a twin bedroom, a double bedroom and another double bedroom with veranda, plus a bathroom/wc.

Outside is a small garden with mature olive, oak and pine trees. At the far end is the 8m x 5m swimming pool (depth 1m-2.1m) bordered by gorgeous orange trees and with the most magnificent views over the lake.
